Thought i see ure views and thoughts on:
Why Outlaws Has Dropped In Number?
My views and thoughts of why are:
1. Hackers - Hacks been made and posted (ie.TheOutlawDad) with easy tutorials and tips to follow to load the hacks.
2. People getting bored of the game, being called a hacker (ie.If they're good), people chatting and not playing enough according to some players.
3. People having new systems (ie. Burn) such as having new os systems (operating systems) (ie.XP,NT,2000) or having Router problems.
4. Newer Games are also a big problem, such as CS (CounterStrike) and many other faster games. Couple of years before there might have been new games but now there are more faster and better graphic'ed games.
5. Cos of the low in numbers in the room, Even when people are on, dont go in there cos the low in numbers. So cos of them not going in, so dont many others. Leaving the numbers low.
6. People have more important things to do in life, and dont want to sacrifice it for a game. Couple of years back, when everyone was addicted they might have.

Hey Cerb, Yeah, it's sad to see the number of players in the Zone dropping down to hardly nothing. It sucks! You're right about the points you made. I have updated my PC and I'm running Win XP too and I'm still there playing Outlaws without problems. I think the reason the number of people have dropped recently is because it's the Holiday season right now. People are with family or preparing to see family and making plans. I also think that many of the people are out buying gifts for the Holidays too. Hopefully things will pick up again in the Zone after the Holidays. We'll see what happens. Take care, ~Mr. Bone88

WHY? WHY? I'LL TELL U WHY!! *ahem* BECAUSE EVEYONE SAYS NEW/ OLD PLAYERS ARE "ALIAS" AND WONT PLAY WITH THEM!! SO MAYBE U "KNOWN" PLAYERS SHOULD GET OFF UR HIGH HORSE AND PLAY WITH OTHER PEOPLE!!! OL HAS LIKE... 15 PLAYERS ON AT A TIME. DONT BE PICKIE

One word ........ Hexen !!!!
LoL well its not only guys like Hexen that make ppl leave OL.
In my case its like this
1: I upgrade my Videocard from a GF3 Ti 200 to a FX 5900 Ultra, too bad that card dosent work well with OL, i tried to tweak it for 2 weeks but failed.
2: Too few players, can take a hour to get a game goin.
3: LAG, Outlaws engine is laggy like hell, i played against ppl with ping between 0-5 ms and they still lag. The adventage to have 56k and use kazaa in background is too big. In new game engines laggers like that has only disadventages and thats a good thing.
4: New games is avalible now, that offer same speed as OL, better graphic and almost no lag at all. Look at my thread NEW Westernshooter.

I suppose the best people to answer this question would be the people who have left Outlaws. They are the ones who could tell us why they are no longer among the number in High Noon. Since I still play the game almost daily, I can only wonder about why they no longer play. I imagine the biggest reason there are fewer players in Outlaws is real life. Life changes and we get busy with other more important things that we have little or no control over. It may be that someone would like to be at the Zone playing, but they have to get up early for work or school or some other functions. But I would also have to think that the proliferation of hacking among regular players and the practice of creating aliases has lead to reduction in the amount of players of this old game. I know of one person who I have seen with at least a dozen aliases in High Noon. This hacker cant get anyone to play with him because of his cheating. When everyone realizes who the alias is, he creates another and comes back again. This makes it hard on the newcomers to Outlaws, because everyone in High Noon is suspicious of new names being a hacking alias. As to be called a hacker, if there was no truth to it then it wouldnt bother them. I have known good players who won most of the time and no one called them hackers. And I think if someone had, they would have laughed and blew it off. Because when you get down to it, this is just a game and it is for fun. Why would you hack anyway? You dont get anything from it, and it takes away from you. Even if you could hack and nobody know, you would still know and that would just make you think less of yourself. One other thing that I think drives people out of High Noon is bad behavior. Bragging and cursing and name calling really doesnt have a place in Outlaws. Well I am sorry I went on so long about this topic. I suppose it is kinda important to me and I have enjoyed playing Outlaws for many years. I hope I can say that again many years later.

Very good post Hooter!
and i add one more thing to my old post......... Alias
Several times i have played against Alias, they make me curious so i use to check firewall log.
I confronted some of these alias, but they deny it, well whatever i dont care.
The thing that most sad is that these alias dont realize that they dont make OL more popular, its reversed!

I guess im a worthy candidate to explain why i at least left outlaws. i left due to to a combination of 2 things
computer upgrade
lack of players/rise of hackers
i went from my voodoo3 to a gf4 4200ti and i couldnt get my gf to produce frame rates any higher than 30 with the worst resolution possible. i spent at least a month trying to tweak it to no avail. CS simply looked like a more logical choice to play...
hackers were like 1 out of 4 players when i left. not to brag but i considered myself on an elite level of the talent that was around at the time. but it got very frustrating to see people blatently use hacks and then talk shit like they were good. i hated how crow and fandingo would claim greatness but it was just a proggy doing half the work.
i loved outlaws guys, it was such a thrill to get on when 70 others were on and just jump into a dm. the adrenaline rush is awesome when you just won a 10-9 CTF match and your hands are shaking from so much excitement. but when i can hardly move, fire, or see, with the growing hackers that were present at the time, it was just too frustrating to deal with anymore. i wish there would be an ol2
